Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light

My first Deborah Lippmann polish! I picked this up a couple of months ago because it stood out - this was something I have not seen before. Ray of Light has a purplish-blue base, with blue being the more dominant color. It has holographic flakies and the color transforms depending on where the light hits. Very nice but it's not visible all of the time, especially indoors.

It's a beautiful concept but the formula was disappointing. First, it's really thick which makes it difficult to apply. At least two coats are required to get the base to look opaque. Once it dries, it looks dull and a high shine top coat is a must in order for it to look truly holographic.

I thought I would love this, but I don't. Although with the top coat it looks great, I think this just takes too much work for a mani.

  1. I have this in Sweet Dreams. I have tried Ray of light and IMO, the former is better. :)

    1. It's just for this. I have another DL polish, Believe, and the formula is way better! :)
