Laura Mercier Petite Baked Eye Colour Trio in Golden Metallics

Of all the holiday collections, I look forward to Laura Mercier's most. This year one of the items I picked up was the Petite Baked Eye Colour Trio in Golden Metallics which contains three baked eyeshadow packed with shimmer.

I read on the box that it can be used either dry or wet - my preference is to use it wet because there's far less fall out and it brings out the colors better.

Gold leaf is a metallic yellow gold shade. Black Karat is loaded with warm gold shimmer that sits on top of a semi-opaque black base. Emerald (my favorite of the three) seems like a black-green duochrome when wet but when applied dry it shows as having light gold and blue shimmer on top of the same semi-opaque base of Black Karat.

This set comes in a sturdy, plastic case which has a mirror on the upper portion. I like this packaging because its compact which makes it easy to carry. And if you have a full makeup kit, this will be a welcome addition since it does not take up much space.

The way I wear this is by applying Gold Leaf on the entire lid. Then I put Black Karat on my lower lid and outer corner of my upper eyelid. The last step is to apply Emerald on the outer corner of the upper lid and the crease. Finally, a very light wash of Gold Leaf right above the crease up to the browbone.

Although beautiful, I think this a palette specially for the holidays... nice to have but something you can live without.

  3. It's a beautiful palette, that's for sure, and you've applied so beautifully and neatly on yourself. My one misgiving with Laura Mercier is that their eyeshadows have a lot of fallout for such an expensive product. I'd still buy it though for the color selection.
