NARS Cordura Duo Eyeshadow

My first encounter with NARS Cordura was when I had my bridal makeup trial in Hong Kong. The Makeup Artist opened her case and I saw rows and rows of NARS products. My eyes grew wide and I felt a pang of envy because it looked like she had the complete line of NARS Blushes.

She took out Cordura and I was horrified to see how dark the colors were. I worried that I would look like a racoon.  And that inital reaction made me feel like a jerk once I saw the look she created - it was so natural! And that's why I ended up buying the product myself.

Below, I swiped it on my arm a few times without any primer. When I tried this on with primer, the colors were darker.

Cordura is perfect for those who love brown eyeshadow colors. The lighter shade is somewhere between milk chocolate and bronze. The darker one reminds me of my wengue-colored furniture. At first glance, both have gold glitters but upon closer inspection, I saw some green and red ones too. I was a bit worried that the glitters may look too extreme for daytime wear but once applied, I saw that it was subtle.

The consistency of both eyeshadows are similar - buttery, soft and there isn't a lot of fall out. The colors are buildable and very easy to blend. Wear-time is pretty good... with my Urban Decay Primer Potion as base, this stays put all day. No sign of a crease after 8 hours in a humid country. Yup, that's pretty good.

I love this product so much that I hate the feeling of wanting to own every single NARS Eyeshadow one out there.

Dabbling Into High Fashion Makeup

For the entire duration of my Makeup Class, I chose Avant Garde looks and left out High Fashion. So for our last day, I decided to focus on High Fashion.

Character Makeup

I love drawing and painting. My parents would even let me take lessons during summer when I was still a kid. I pursued my love for art back in 2005 when I took oil painting classes and dabbled with acrylic. Makeup school has rekindled this passion with a twist.

Character makeup is a challenge but I find it to be more fun than beauty makeup.

Adventures In Makeup School

Some of the work I've done during my Advanced level makeup class. Truth be told, I enjoy applying makeup on other people over myself... and doing Avant Garde is so fun and challenging at the same time! :)

None of these photos have been enhanced except for cropping & watermark.

Shu Uemura Eye Red:Juvenus Vitalizing Line-Reducing Eye Essence

Since I was having a lucky streak with the Shu Uemura makeup and tools I owned, I figured I'd try one of their eye care products. Besides, I needed some eye cream at that time. And so began my 6-month journey with the Vitalizing Line-Reducing Eye Essence from their Red:Juvenus line.

This range focuses on anti-aging and according to the website, the eye essence is:

"A light fresh texture formulated to gently & actively target fine lines & dark circles for the delicate eye contours. Immediately skin feels more supple and total surface of fine lines are significantly diminished. Within four weeks dark circles are improved."

That sounded promising, right?

First, let me describe the the product for you. It's gel-cream in texture, yellowish and medium-weight. The weight, along with the level of smoothness when it glides on my skin, tells me that this has a high concentration of some type of silicone. I threw away the box a long time ago, in an effort to save space which is why I can't list the ingredients.

It provides subtle brightening due to the presence of reddish pearlescent particles (which look like micro-sized glitter). Even when swatched on my arm, I noticed the same effect. I wonder if this can double as a highlighter?

I was hoping that after religious use for 6 months, I would notice the reduction of fine lines and brightening of the undereye area. Unfortunately, I feel let down by this product. My undereye was still dark and nothing happened to my wrinkles. Out of the 6 months, I only noticed that this temporarily filled in my lines three times. Three times! I'll say it again... three times :(

To make things worse, it caused me to have millia in my undereye area. Ugh!

So here I am, still searching for something that will address my eye concerns - dark circles, lines and dehydration. Any recommendations out there?

I Used Make Up For Ever's Aqua Cream In Today's Makeup Class

I've been taking professional make-up classes since late last year. First, it was a course on Bridal Makeup. Now, I'm taking Advanced classes for Photography and High Fashion.

We're currently doing makeup from different eras. Today, was the 70's and 80's - looks that are fun and quite easy. I decided to use Make Up For Ever's Aqua Cream Colors. I've actually been itching to use these products but was waiting for the right look to do so.

I love how pigmented these are! Throughout the class, it did not crease. The colors are so vivid that it's fair to say that these the best metal colored eye products I've used to date.

As this is a waterproof product, the texture is thicker and a bit drier than most cream eyeshadows. It can be quite tricky to blend and gets flaky if too much is applied - one must be quick when working with these. To apply on a large area, I used my fingers and for smaller areas, I used a synthetic brush. I blended these out with a medium-sized synthetic brush.

Aqua Cream is definitely on my to-buy list for 2012!

My teacher was pleased and surprised that I did not use any powder products on the eyes (with the exception of the highlighter). She said my look was clean and fit for the eras we covered. It was a good day. Happiness! :)

Happy New Year!

Happy 2012 everyone! I've been away from my blog because I was busy with the holidays, went out of the country, got married and currently adjusting to my new life. So I hope you excuse my absence :)

I'm still working on upcoming posts - I was lucky enough to find brands that I can't purchase locally and am really excited to try them out for the first time.

Anyway, I wrote this post to let you know I haven't gone away nor have I forgotten about you all, my friends!
