November Empties 2017... But Mostly Other Thoughts

Wednesday, November 29, 2017

The products pictured above are all empties - from GWPs. They are all fantastic because each one left my thirsty, sensitive skin feel so loved. It wasn't the first time I tried these brands. Sulwhasoo is my ultimate favorite. By the way, did you know these brands all share the same parent company? Cool, yeah?

But let's talk about something else...

I just need to get this off my chest - apart from the makeup no-buy, another reason I haven't been blogging as often as I used to is I'm bored with the makeup scene. Brands have been releasing similar versions of products and if I see another neutral palette, I'm going to throw up. These holographic/glow palettes, Smashbox had eyeshadow transformers which were pretty much the same thing years ago. I wish they still had those.

The no-buy has been lifted for half a year and I've been purchasing skincare mostly. The truly exciting makeup I bought this year: Pony Effect Customizing Lip Palette... because I've been wanting to buy it since it was released. And Boxy Charm - oh, how I love thee! So worth it!

And the other reason is work. I seriously don't know what to do because I get up at 5:30am and come home almost 9pm. I'm too tired for anything. And my anxiety attacks are getting frequent along with depression. Sometimes I regret going back to corporate life.

How do you get past the boredom or busy-ness of life and still manage to blog?!

  1. I'm currently in my own blogging slump because I don't have time to do the fun part (nail art). I need to start setting aside time to do what I love. That always picks me up.

  2. I make sure I do blogging for me! I always set aside time to do my nail art. If I swatch all the time, it’s not fun. I have to wear polish for me the way you need to play with makeup for you!

  3. I feel your pain! I decided to go through all my polish and get serious about purging and that's helping to motivate me to blog again by going through polishes and either loving it or leaving it. I've also gotten rid of GOBS of makeup... some of it I had never worn and it was already expired! Oops!

  4. I was wondering where you were since I remember your blog from before. I don't get bored with blogging but I feel like I say the same thing too often.

  5. For me I think blogging gives me something fun to do so I look forward to sitting down and planning! Sometimes I get so busy and just know no matter what I have to find time because it’s my me time! Lol!

  6. Blogging is my escape from a nerdy day job. (Engineer by day.) I do it for fun. Sometimes it becomes a job and that gets tough. I try to plan out my week on the weekends. I paint my nails only on the weekends and edit photos and post blogs during the work week which helps minimize my stress about blogging. Take a break may be just the thing to re-vamp your enthusiasm - others I know have stopped blogging and decided to micro-blog (FB/IG). I hope you find a happy balance that makes you happy.

  7. Hugs to you. But I am glad to see you back again. I have a very hectic day job but this is what I do: Take photos and write during weekends, schedule them to go live. During my lunch break, I write and edit on weekdays. For my Youtube video, I film before I leave for work (usually I have 10 minutes to do this), I edit at night. But I don't force myself, there are days when I don't want to be doing any blogging or vlogging. I take a break just like everything else. Hope this helps

  8. Blogging is definitely my break from my day job. I do mostly nail art, so even if new products aren't fascinating enough, I can use what I have and do a new art look.

  10. I hear you about similar releases. I feel like a lot of the makeup lately is kind of boring, so I've been buying mostly skincare too.

  11. Ok that was al little funny with the neutral palette comment. But I agree, we are seeing the same things recycled in all aspects of beauty products right now. I guess I just keep on plugging on. Maybe you consul do comparisons posts to help consumers decide which is the best buy for them?

  12. I understand the slump for sure. What keeps me going is the PR sample obligations. I initially stopped blogging about makeup because like you said, everything is just the same as it was before, nothing new. Hopefully you find the time to get back into it in a way that makes you happy!

  13. We all go through slumps. It's especially hard at this time of year. Be sure to take the time to enjoy the festivity of the season, first and foremost. Otherwise the holiday season is gone and that's a whole depressive thing in itself - not enjoying it. The blog can wait until you're ready. You have so much going on!

  14. I agree - makeup doesn't excite me quite like it used to, but I still love playing with new skincare and bath & body items!
